Wendy's Value Menu A Little Less Value Now...

Well, back in the spring, when Wendy’s changed their 99 cent value menu to the “Value Choices Menu”, I blogged about how name change was essentially a clever way to get rid of the idea that the value selections should be 99 cents. When they did that, they added a few things that were more than a dollar just to get the ball rolling. Now, with the new year, they have 19% price increase of the side salad. My $2 side salad combo meal is now $2.58 thanks to Wendy’s profiteering on the more healthy items. With low inflation rates and cost of living increases, 19% seems a little much.

At the same time, Burger King, who loves to cater to cheap people who don’t mind getting fat, is starting up a dollar menu of their own to compete better with McDonalds and Wendy’s. I wonder if they will have a $1 salad…
